Lower strut brace fitting question

Hi all, I recently tried to install an OMP lower strut brace on to my scirocco which I know fits between the two bolts on each end of the front wishbones. I had the car jacked up and wheel removed to access the bolt but on either side I'm sure the bolts did not screw back into the correct thread and totally made a new one in the bush. The wishbones are needing replaced anyway but I was wondering if I would be better off buying polybushes for this one particular part to make fitting the strut brace easier or is there another method to fitting the strut brace.

I fitted the OMP lower brace to my car. I was fitting new wishbones anyway & they came with new rubber bushes. I remember the first front bolt went in a dream, but the second wouldn't have it. Only slightly out (less than a mm) but enough to not go in. In the end I slackened the rear mount of the wishbone so that i could move the front (ever so slightly) to get the front bolt in. It's worth looking on this site (& googling) for the best method of torquing up the bolts. If I remember correctly you're supposed to do it with the front wheels back on the ground (but I may be wrong). Either way, the bolts are quite a high torque & it's tricky to get the leverage.

Yes the car needs to be on it's wheels for the final torquing up of the bolts.
Either get some ramps or some breeze blocks etc to lower the car onto then it's slightly higher of the floor when sat on its wheels.
