Not really
In my experience but by no means to be taken as gospel, most injection MK2's had them fitted. I did have a a poverty spec scrapper 1.6 with one once
There are plenty of bad aftermarket sunroofs though

Re: Mk2 Scirocco Sunroof/Non Sunroof
i would say they are fairly rare, come to the meet next weekend at cosford and see how many non sun roofed roccos there are.
it would make an interesting poll.
but what mr mender says is true, when these cars were new only the cheapest ones didn't have sunroofs as they were a desirable thing to have back in the day which is why so many non sunroof roccos got butchered by having a glass aftermarket one fitted.

Re: Mk2 Scirocco Sunroof/Non Sunroof
Tilt/slide steel sunroof was standard on '84 GTi, Storm and GTX.
Otherwise it's variable. They were popular in the 80s so I think quite commonly specified as extras, especially to the more luxurious/expensive models like GTL, GTI & Scala.
Then at the tail end of production a lot of dealers wanted to clear their stock, so you find that a lot of the 92/93 registered GTIIs have dealer-fitted sunroofs (I had one that was even electric!) as well as central locking and electric windows.
More of the many I've owned have had a sunroof than haven't.
If you're interested because of the value of your car, I'd have to say I don't think it will make much, if any, difference as condition and history are more important to all but the few who want to take a Scirocco on track.

Which is why i grabbed my 1991 Scala i about 10 years ago
No sun roof, electric windows, central locking
Most of the late injection cars, like i was after, all had sunroofs. Which is what i wanted to avoid :)

As Will, I avoid sunroofs, just something else to potentially give trouble. Central locking and electric windows I view in the same way!

Re: Mk2 Scirocco Sunroof/Non Sunroof
don't actually see a sunroof as something that can give trouble. i don't open them, so don't care if they work or not. i just see them as a headroom thief
