youre not going to believe this

Post by james butler »

i went up a new shingled road last week and got tar spots all over the car.
as you can imagine trying to get it off without damaging the paint proved difficult.....
that was until my mum told me to try margarine on it :dunno:
guess what... it actually worked!
it kind of softens it enough to be wiped off.
has to be the weirdest thing ive ever done to a car.
only downside is i now have greasy patches on the body work so will have to wash it again tomorrow

googled it too

I've never heard that before, I'm sure it's not April 1st....

What a tip, must give it a try on the Golf as it's white and really shows up tar spots.

Amazing!
This is going to save me a load of grief when it comes to detailing.
I'll give it a go this week.

Cheers!!!

Swarfega usually works well to remove tarry substances. Its for your skin so has no effect on paint

I'd imagine that's would just be because it has bicarb of soda in it - so a tub of that and some water would be cheaper.
