Re: the Scala
Currently with Dr Tim at the Phirm - have decided to step in before the head gasket fully fails and also get new steering rack and a downpipe seal ring.
I do miss them when they're away..............

The effects of 26 years of blue coolant with limited anti corrosive characteristics.
Thankfully a back up cylinder head in stock...
And this'll need welding

So Tim the 'thorough' one has been busy..............
And this may also be one bonus of the enforced head replacement..............

Kent gs2h cam.
The new head was originally in a car Tim built about 15 years ago. When that car was moved on he retrieved this head and cam set up and kept in storage. Until now.

Re: The Silver Scala
Well.
With the replacement and rebuilt head with a twist and a skim and a G60 head gasket plus all the exhaust manifold and down pipe issues sorted I had an absolutely brilliant drive back from the Phirm today.
Car utterly transformed - still as smooth as ever but much more lively and ,with the cam, just keeps on pulling. Almost 1.6 EG like but with the torque of the DX.
Looking forward to the trip to Stanford Hall tomorrow A LOT.
There will be brake dust.

Re: The Silver Scala
Glad its all up and running again, I've had the same problem with the down pipe rusting away at the join 3 times in the past few years, such a terrible design by VW, I've now gone for a 4 to 1 manifold and you can really tell the difference well worth the upgrade.

Re: The Silver Scala
After a period of poor cold and hot starting Scala back from the Phirm, new injectors needed. First ones in 26 years.

Re: The Silver Scala
Again - a recent service at the Phirm sorted some minor running issues out.
Had a leaking oil pressure sender, now dealt with.
Would like to get some minor paintwork issues dealt with but a seeping water pump needs addressing first.

Re: The Silver Scala
Rear seal leaking on this, took advantage of a gearbox off moment for The PHIRM to fit a fresh clutch and other hardware including release bearing and pushrod shaft.
