fuel pump for 2.0 8v

Post by big_wig_074 »

ok, ive purchased a 2.0 bottom end, a pb head, gti exhaust manifold and have a weber dmtl 32/34. I know about the dizzy adaptor etc and that's in hand, as is the breather I believe, but ill be needing a new fuel pump, which one do people recommend. the car will never go far beyond this spec (a mild cam MIGHT make its way in there some day but that's it) so I don't need to future proof with a bigger pump etc. there seems to be a LOT of options with massively varied prices.
any ideas welcomed.

Ok, but I'm starting with a carburetted car. Mechanical fuel pump so it will now need an electric pump due to the new block

Ah ok. Completely different then. Can. You not use a generic elec pump and fit a regulator?

Weber pump is a very good pump from webcon!
It's easy to wire in at £50 not the cheapest but definitely good quality
Mine runs 2 su carbs on a 2.6 litre engine so should easily cope with the Webers needs on a 2 litre.

I dont mind project cars but I HATE SANDING!!!

I went with a huco fuel pump in the end for all those who search this in future.i asked fast road cars for their recommendation and this was it. it works perfectly bolted to the inner wing by the air inlet. I used one of the existing wires from the original pierburg carb as it gets 12v when the ignition is on. no return is necessary as it self regulates pressure and only pumps when needed, it works like an electrical version of a mechanical pump and is all but silent. perfect for the use. about £60 if I recall correctly.
