oil buzzer
electrics not my favourite.
just changed my speedo rev counter etc cluster, as a few things not working properly, i.e blue high beam light
And since then the oil light and buzzer comes one, sometimes stays on sometimes goes off..
Not every time but often enough. coincidence mmm
yes theres oil in it, and replaced oil pressure switch/sender on side of block, even swapped back the unit with oil, battery, lights, but still happens..
Crazily even with the sender disconnected it can come on, but again not every time.
So whats setting it off then??? another sender/circuit?? is there another pressure sender near the oil filter?
or could it just be glitch in printed circuit board on back on (new) cluster, just buzzing for no reason.

had similar issue on my new GTX project, turns out previous owner had wrong oil pressure sensor fitted, have you put on the correct one?
There is low pressure and high pressure ones, think side of the head is low pressure and high pressure down by the oil filter

Re: oil buzzer
I will replace the one by the oil filter then next.
I hade changed the head one as it was leaking, and that was fine till I replaced dash cluster. I have got another one since then but same issue. So don't think its wrong type, as worked fine until now.

Re: oil buzzer
Most of the replacement sensors are colour coded so get the same colour as fitted.
It should be a white one (high pressure) sensor above the oil filter and blue or sometimes black (low pressure) on the side of the head.
It is a common fault in the instruments with the oil pressure buzzer going off, I think there is a coupe of guides to fixing the problem on the web?

Re: oil buzzer
many thanks for that. I also found in my Mrs old Golf/Jetta Haynes book, not my Scirocco Haynes book, that yes the buzzer and oil lamp will sound above 2000rpm from the high pressure circuit if the pressure goes below 1.8. shame Haynes couldn't be bothered putting that in the scirocco book. Would have saved me time. And with this disconnected sure enough at 2100 rpm sounds every time. So just bought new white high pressure sender.

Re: oil buzzer
Is the Golf Haynes manual the brown coloured one?
If so I find it has more in-depth write ups and info than the red Scirocco one so I always have a look in both.

Re: oil buzzer
buzzing all time now, ive earthed the wire to pressure switch to the block, that seemed to have stopped the buzzer as circuit complete, the senders close/complete circuit at pressure I read somewhere.
But its started buzzing again at >2k revs. I will get pressure tested but how can I bypass this buzzer. Presumably on clock circuit board somewhere I can snip something. Presumably one wire from rev counter feeds the oil lamp buzzer with info. or am I barking up the wrong tree.
im going barking mad.

Are you sure the oil pump is ok?

Re: oil buzzer
getting oil pressure tested Thursday, also getting proper VW high pressure oil switch from VW heritage.

Re: oil buzzer
wrong dipstick that's not crossed my mind, but the oil level is the same as it was before issues started.
I will tidy this thread up later, ive read lots and tried lots, its common problem with a few possible reasons.
dodgy wire from dash cluster to oil switch
change switch, and better still the right one, high pressure switch.
dodgy dash cluster oil buzzer board.
try this - thinking about how much money and time spent, oil changes, etc then with this in mind hit the dash board with both hands, that worked tonight on way home.. looking forward to hitting the next time too.
I think its dodgy cluster I fitted the day before, oddly though I changed my speedo over to keep the odometer/miles the same, that's strange as buzzer unit is behind speedo. but watch this space..
both fists..

Re: oil buzzer
Finally got there, replaced the speedo/clock which came with "new" cluster, and that seemed to stop it, so then put the old speedo back in but with the L shaped circuit board from the "new" clock. And its been fine since, and does still buz if I disconnect the wire from the pressure sender to test and stops when I reconnect.
So to some up, my original L shaped circuit board buzzer was not compatible with the new clock cluster..
or faulty original L board but never buzzed due to the circuit board on rear of cluster being damaged all along!?
either way 10 out of 10 for being unlucky.
