Fuel pump wiring

Post by essextom »

I'm going to put an electric fuel pump on my carbed car. I'm not completely sure on the electrics, has anyone done this before? Or does anyone know if the fuel pump wiring is an add on to the wiring loom which I can easily just unplug from another car etc and splice onto mine? I could make an easy small loom to power it but if I can just pinch the bits off another car that'll be loads easier.

the wiring does cater for a fuel pump but on carb cars im pretty sure this powers your manifold heater which if disconnected could result in carb icing.
the other thing you need to consider is a method of killing the pump should you crash and not be wired into the ignition system permenantly (using the coil live will work if the engine stops but if the cars turned upside down the pump needs to turn off instantly).
i bought a kill switch that if knocked or turned upside down cuts the power, they are cheap and can be reset if it trips
this is the one i use
