Had another think and the 1st picture could be the vacuum fuel enrichment thingy (technical term :-D) which lives on the air intake box, it increases the mixture if you floor it when cold.
Not 100% sure as I can't see where yours comes from or the colours of the wire.

dont believe the storms did have it located there , although if you look behind the 5th injector / cold start you should see yours there .

The fuel enrichment valve I believe is a later mod to the k-jet, never a very good idea to hammer the car when it's cold but the valve on the air box increases fuel if you do have to pull away quickly when the car is cold.

great that you got it in james , mine is in but i had already cut about a 5 x 3 inch piece of the bulkhead out and replaced the plate as it had been bodged over the years , and the car was on the rotating unit so was easy at the time , as this kit is from the golf i think the golf's bulkhead does not protrude horizontally from the firewall as far as the rocco , maybe another option is to move the unit down about 6mm and slot the holes a bit , did you have to dremel the big hole to the top or bottom when fitting the grommet.

hi mark
i used a cone drill to drill it out and then made another linkage much longer than the origenal so it would clear the bulk head.
ive made a couple of them now and sold one to mr alpine and the other to someone i cant remember.
