I have a new water pump, but all the bolts sheared off in the housing, i've taken it off the block to drill out, but decided it's not worth the hassle and I want to buy a replacement. Does anyone know where I can get one for the weekend?
Plenty of places selling the pump, plus I already have one. Ordered this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371726880409 as the housing is in the photo, but I'm pretty sure this is just going to be the pump.

Re: Replacement water pump housing
I had the same problem when replacing my old water pump many years ago, now I just buy the pump and housing in 1 saves a lot of hassle and its not much more for a complete unit.

dont forget to change the bolts that anchor the housing to the block as i believe they are stretch bolts!

I don't think they are? I've never replaced mine and I've fitted 4 new water pumps on 3 different engines, they are not done up that tight as they are only thin bolts and there is a rubber gasket to seal the pump to the block, fit a new seal when you remove the pump and give the block face a good clean.james butler wrote:dont forget to change the bolts that anchor the housing to the block as i believe they are stretch bolts!
I also smeared a little copper grease on the bolts to stop the seizing in the pump.

to be completely honest i dont think so either but when i changed my water pump some years ago im sure someone on here said they were stretch bolts and was the reason i went and bought new from vw bolts at the time.mark1gls wrote:I don't think they are?
