SO Egor is my 1988 GTX iahv used him for the last 4 years as my daily! but he is looking a little worse for wear and its time for some TLC. i have managed over the last year to collect a couple of panels but am in need of more bits for him!
This is how he looks at present
went out to empty him yesterday and found a spare wheel full of water [/URL]
dried it out
Had to bin my carpet :(
its gonna be a long task due to lack of space and money but he will get there!
good on you for keeping egor
hes definately worth saving thats a real nice looking rocco.
to be fair the boot floor is quite an easy repair where its gone on egor.
most of the cut and weld will be hidden on the outsiude by the bumper and hidden on the inside by the carpet.
i wouldn't part with him for anything! lol yeh apparently my last Mot showed up that the panel at the back of the bumper has all but disappeared too. I have some parts in the garage and loft already that i have been slowly accumulating including a bootlid and pair of doors. finding a matching interior is proving to be very tricky though. Plus everything is always down south :(
does the interior need to match your existing interior?
just an idea but some members on here regularly sell complete interiors, so may be easier to change to a different interior or recover the lot to something that suits your taste?
im currently looking into recovering my interior in black leather from tartan
i really wanted to stay with what I've got its only my drivers seat thats the problem really rest just needs dam good clean. i managed to pick up a rear bench at a show last year for £2 in the right material gonna see if its possible to use the material to fix up my drivers seat buy some new foam and a new rear section
so after neglecting Egor for the whole show season ( been real busy with VWFestival) i have finally had someone out to look at him for a quote and got him booked into the bodyshop for christmas time :) hopefully have him ready for next years show season :D need to get the back bumper off this weekend and get someone to come look at the welding :)
I'm sure any mk1/2 golf and scirocco go straight in and also the early corrado, not sure if the late corrado has a different subframe? I picked up a full set of Audi tt leathers and after much chopping and welding now have a leather passenger seat! It really put me off finishing the drivers side to be honest haha. The bench seat looks like a nightmare so might take it to the trimmers and see if it's possible to make something from the two
So i decided to go start taking a few bits off Egor ....
..Rear bumper off not too shabby...
....Rear skirt off uh-oh
Hello rot goodbye rear end! - luckily i bought this panel over a year ago as it came up as an advisory on my MOT got someone coming to assess him tomorrow for welding
