Scirocco Mk1 Gli 1980 for sale

Post by silverpilot »

As previously posted I am now looking to sell my Mk1 Gli, details as follows;-

Model;- Mk1 Gli
Year;- 1980
Colour;- Silver
Milage;- 81500 ( as of Aug 16 )
Tax;- yes
MOT;- yes until May 17
Current private owner;- myself
V5 present;- Yes
Location ;- Cambridgeshire
Price;- £7,000 ono
Contact details;- email chasmaggie@me.com

Info;-
I have owned the car since 1984 and I am the second owner. Its been in storage since around 1990 with odd trips out for MOT and endeavoured to start it a couple of times a year. The car is now fully serviced with all belts etc replaced, new tyres, exhaust, etc wheels have been resprayed along with the bonnet which had stone chips / marks. The rear tail gate air struts are not working and may need replacing. Taken it out on a couple of runs and I am well pleased with the drive. The car has not been modified and in the most part original, obviously any items that required replacing are not OEM, there is a tow bar fitted which I use to use with a small camping trailer. My biggest issue is with the sun roof which, probably due to the adhesive giving way, has resulted in the lining parting company in places with the surround. I was informed by the original owner that the sun roof was fitted from new by the selling VW garage. I will in due course advertise on Car and classic.

FYI - Mk1 Golf boot strut fit and you only need 1 as that was all the Golf was fitted with.
I have 2 big speakers in my parcel shelf and the strut easily lifts my shelf, speakers and boot up, I kept the other strut fitted to keep the original look, only £12 for a strut.
One I bought and fitted to my Mk1.

Good luck with the sale.

To be honest, with a car that nice you ought to invest the few extra quid in original spec Lift-o-Mat boot struts which are still available via VW Heritage or VW Classic Parts. I can dig a part number out if you like.

From my receipt from VW Heritage in April this year:

531-827-550/B Gas Strut, Tailgate, Mk1 Scirocco
00002 @ £00032.08 GBP

Not cheap, but they are original spec, which seems to mean they'll last 20-30 years.
