Colour maybe pewter gray? You will have to find the paint code to be sure
The little tag with the paint code on is missing, but as it turns out my girl friend has just finished her medical degree and has been placed miles away so im going to be loosing the workshop which means all cars must be sold!!! :dash:

this design wasnt actually the "original" design for the mk3 though bud. in my opinion its just a fat golf. dont like them and doubt i ever will. front end resembles a alfa and the back end looks like a megane. no resemblance to the mk1 or the mk2.

Hi all , My name is Justin ..I have owned my Mars red 1985 gtx for around six years now (and know every person to own it since 1987) I drove it as my daily for three years or so but then parked it up down my mates yard ....outside unfortunately!!.. But recently I've been giving it some love and it is currently sat on axle stands completely stripped and ready for a whole lot of welding to be done around the usual areas.. rear sills in and out, inner and outer arch repairs (could do with some advice on panel choice here) rear valance ,top of wheel tubs ...New scuttle and one wing to replace ... So as you can tell I'm gonna be quite busy here ... I'm no mechanic by far but get by with a little help from my friends haha .... I'll post some pics up soon to show its sorry state

Rear arches you have 3 choices:

1) Joost (username Blueshark) makes rear wing repair panels - he should be able to help you out.
2) You can buy a complete rear quarter panel from VW
3) Make them yourself... probably ok for very localised repairs that don't extend far into the arch, especially if you're covering up with the bodykit.

Just saying hi as a new member of the forums and possibly soon the register itself.

I'v just picked up a 1988 Scirocco Scala, 1.8 Carb. Great so far, acting as my daily for now at least!

I believe the previous owner was a member, so you may know it. I bought the car in Kettering and have taken it back to its original place of sale, Oxford.

My previous experience has all been Minis and MGs, fancied something a little more modern and perhaps a little bit better put together.

Welcome to Scirocco ownership :-) I also started off with mini's back in the 80's when they was cheap as chips but move to old VW's, a lot more room in the engine bay, quicker and quieter to drive, less rust and I will say it but a lot will disagree better brakes, Mini's I used to own and run had drum brakes all round!
