Re: Rust
That is the jacking point on these cars, I stopped using mine and now jack up in a different place.
What happens is tyre fitters/garages and some home jacks don't have a rubber pad and it's metal on metal and the paint chips off so leaving bear metal which over a short period of time it rusts and soon looks like your sills.
I have 2 trolley jacks one with a rubber pad and I always use a wooden block on my jack without a pad.

Re: Rust
That makes sense mark1gls. I'm waiting on a mobile welder to come and have a look at it. His work looks pretty good. I have also got in touch with a few garages near me. I know a lot of people would say just scrap it but i have now owned it for nearly 10 years and i am quite attached to it although i have only drove it once.

Re: Rust
Glad to see you will be going ahead with the project, it will be worth it in the end. It may not be a financial gain at first but these cars are getting rare and the price can only go up but more than that is the enjoyment of driving and owning something a bit different from the usual tin boxes on the roads.
