WITHDRAWN FROM SALE 1987 Scala for sale, 48000 miles, VGC

Post by drewb101 »

Model: Sirocco Scala (non-injection)
Year: 1987
Mileage: 48k
MOT: June 2016
Current owner: me
V5 present: yep
Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
Price:
Contact Details: 07971082174
Additional information:

It really pains me to part with what is probably one of the lowest mileage unmolested Scirocco's around. Sadly I am moving home and as with all new estates parking is at a premium, so as I have a daily driver the occasional summer car has to find a new forever after home....

I will go on about the good, but lets clear up the "bad" as all cars have some bad bits.
1) The bottom of the drivers door has some rust, typical water trap area beneath the lower door mouldings. The door also has a small dent on the crease line to the right of the door handle. It was my intention over the next winter to either repair/replace the door.
2) The drivers side window winder needs replacing (I will get this done myself but I guess I am clutching at straws for faults lol)
3) Tailgate gas struts could do with replacing - they do hold but are prone to slight sagging
4) Parcel shelf is missing the right hand side retainer where the two pieces pivot. Shelf itself is good, never been chopped for speakers.
5) one or two very minor spots of rust and I mean VERY minor.

OK, if you are still reading, here is the good
1) I have owned for approaching 2 years, car has never been my daily driver - laid up over winter, garage stored at all times. Previous owner did some refurb work to the alloys (good job) and kept her well maintained, not daily driver either
2) paint and body work very good, could do with a deep polish but will come up nice. May have had some minor paint but never a respray, all original stickers in place.
3) aside from what is stated above, very very rust free.
4) strong pieburg carb, was rebuilt by previous owner. starts first time, no idling issues
5) has had split exhaust manifold replaced with 4 into 1 branch s/steel manifold in my ownership/
6) bluetooth stereo fitted with optional amp/sub in boot. not the best sound system on earth, but thumps enough :-)
7) interior very very good, bar small hole in drivers right side seat bolster (surprise) but the bolster is fine beneath, I got donor interior and salvaged good bolster foam :-)
8) while I dont have the service history (I know, it had been lost by previous owner in a house move), I do have VOSA MOT history to authenticate mileage, plus when you see her you will know it is genuine!

Bit of a bump (both in terms of thread and some idiot reversing into front corner of car.....)
After a good repair job to front corner of wing, including new paint on front and rear bumpers, am considering selling her again.

Price non-negotiable, only covered 150 miles last year due to water leak (now fixed, split hose). Will be at Stanford Hall this weekend (not on stand obviously but in the car park!).

After a couple of enquiries I have withdrawn her from sale for the time being, pending reviewing the asking price (service history now located) and refreshing the MOT.
