Installing central locking

Electrical setup, having problems clamping the solenoid rod to the roccos and theres two reasons for this. Cant actually get a screwdriver near the screws to tighten them once its on inside the door and taking both pieces out of the lock side to assemble it is fruitless as the clamp is too big to go back in that way.

Anyone ever manage it without making the lock hole bigger as thats the only solution I can think of at the moment

Take the screws out, swap for hex heads.and use a spanner

Like the idea Nate but theres hardly any room to maneouver once its in, however your suggestion gave me an idea also, countersink the holes and use appropriate screws, bet i cant find a single one until ive given up and hacked the door to bits!

And just out of interest and because my haynes manual has only got a vague drawing of the solenoid locations, where would be the best place to mount the solenoids?

Mount the solenoind right underneath the lochpin and drill an extra hole in the door to fixate the screws. Is the easiest and you will not see the hole once the door panel is on.

I fitted that kind of locking solenoid to frankenrocco. That is how I did it. You could also go for a socket, uj, extension and ratchet handle.

Wouldn't advise putting a self tapper through it (if that is what you meant) as the rods can be quite soft and you might just go straight thru it

Thx for the advice guys, fitting right under the lockpin is going to mean cutting that rod down a fair bit but i was going to anyway as its really quite long. Regards the screws i ended up getting grub screws which fit with the bar in as flush as you like

Sunny day today and not a cloud in the sky so out I went determined to get it fitted and as usual, problems. Grub screws or not, it just cant all be assembled out the car as i forgot where the bar goes through the solenoid, has to go through there first which means doing it outside the lock is nigh on impossible anyway. If anyone tries this route youll see what i mean!
Also theres a flat spot where original central locking would have gone but its at such a weird angle that I couldnt see how it could operate effectively. Anyway I eventually clamped it by going in via the outer door handle with the whole thing clamped and attached with the white piece of plastic from the lock on too it was a case of manoeuvring with hardly any room and attaching that bit of plastic back onto the lock, bolt down and breathe!
Started routing the wiring through the door and into the car when thunder and rain appeared! Great!

I was also going to add that after all that its a bit off skew, meaning it doesnt lock or unlock via the fob, nearly but not quite. I swear the next time I take a door card off will be the last!
