Bonnet cable help :(

Post by Chris M GT »

Hi guys,

Could someone help me with the bonnet cable assembly?

I took it apart in a rush a while back and can't figure out how it goes back?

This is what I have

Look under the slam panel in the areas where the bonnet pins lock in. You will see a small lever to release the pins, there is a fitting on these to allow the cable to pass through. Feed the cable in from the passenger's side then driver's side. Tension and secure with the small hexagon head screw on the driver's side, this nips up the cable.
The other photo is of the spring wire for the secondary, hooked catch to the bonnet. The end with the fitting on fastens to the bonnet, the wire then wraps round (4 times on my car) and the hooked end clips onto the hook/lever.
Sorry no photos, but posting photos on here is beyond my meagre computing skills!

If nothing else, you are missing the locking nipple that goes at the end.

Here is the layout http://www.partsbase.org/vw/scirocco-sc ... 51-bonnet/

I assume that you have the parts that look like this somewhere?

No idea what that circle is.

That isn't part of the bonnet release mechanism. It sits behind the drivers headlamp, under the slam panel, and holds the end of the tube that goes to the air box. Haven't got a picture as my high pressure fuel pump, filter and swirl pot now sit about here.

Ben.

Could anyone please spare 2 minutes to grab a couple of pictures of the bonnet cable mechanism and the underside of the bonnet hooks? :) my email is chrism20112011@hotmail.co.uk if this is easier.

Thanks
