Hey ed,

I cleaned up the seals a little and put some silicone lubricant on them, where the struts join is bone dry, so I'm not thinking it is those, I had thought the little gaiter that holds the wire loom, it does appear to be wet but is fairly solid both ends with no obvious damage, if I cover the window seal and it still leaks I will look here as my next port of call, although I hadn't even thought of the washer jet!

I plant to remove the rear wiper and washer jet anyway so it would be a result of it is that!

I'm hoping to get the Zender spoiler, I have located one but it's just a matter of getting it paid for and shipped!

A friend of mine had a leak in the back of her Scirocco, turned out to be weeping past the rear light seal. Removed, cleaned up and refitted with Vaseline on the seal - problem solved.

It comes into the tailgate somehow and pools at the bottom, if you put your finger in the little holes on the underside of the tailgate you can feel the water, this bit when closed sits in the car side of the boot seal in heavy rain it pools on this bit then drops down into the boot, it's definitely coming into the tailgate and then dropping into the car from there so above the lights, however I plan to take the lights out and check for any rust and damage behind these anyway so will make sure the rubbers are good when I re-fit

New seals for the rear lights are also available, if needed.

I had a leak in my boot too, drove me mad for months (still is). i changed the tailgate seal, one of the wiring boots at the top as it had split, sealed the washer jet, changed the boot lock seal and replaced the boot badge clips as they where cracked and letting water in! After that there was still water in both sides, light seals had been replaced so not them, sat in boot when it was raining and watched water bubbling in through a seam where the rear pillar meets the back of the car! (just above rear lights inside in the corner) Yet to be fixed.... Good luck finding it!

Yeah I'm thinking I should probably take out the interior and talcum powder up the boot and watch for the dark patches!

So she passed, first time with a few minor advisories, one being a fuel line with minor corrosion that I missed, the two CV joint gaiters that's are deteriorated but not split (will be replaced ahortly anyway) and the rear brake efficiency on the passengers side is only just within the acceptable limits, the garage fiddled with the cylinder a little and improved it enough to pass but it really needs a bit of an overhaul!

But in general, I'm very happy!

Took a trip up north to get a few parts, ended up loading the car up completely!

Also trying to find the source of the leak still, covered the seal with duct tape so it will either identify the fault or eliminate this as the fault!

So i bought a house in January 2016, since then the Scirocco has sat under cover waiting for a day to come out and play, and today was that day, few little jobs on it over last weekend and booked in for the MOT today, passed with just an advisory of interior mirror insecure (it fell off on the way and i stuck it back on with a foam pad for the MOT)

all in all a great result with being sat idle for so long!

Good to hear it’s went through the MOT, have you done much else to it?

Nothing major, replaced the washer lines as they were perished, not found the leak yet! CV boots have been replaced but plan to overhaul the suspension and clean up the driveshafts at some point, want to paint it green as the paint is awful and patchy, maybe over the coming weeks! Also have a gear linkage bush kit to go on as the linkage is very loose and noisy!
