What are you saying the difference is? They appear to be identical, both came out around the same time also which would suggest to me they're manufactured in the same place, there is no branding on the B&B one or the GSF one.

I have the GSF one and was really happy with the quality and function.

The b&b one is made by vtech. Ok, not well known for amazing quality, but it is at least of known origin.

Gsf's "white box" range is well known throughout the trade as a big steaming pile of proverbial, and no half decent garage will touch it due to the high number of premature failures and parts dead in the box.

It does seem to be perfectly functional to me and good quality, especially for £40. If it fails in the next month of course then it's terrible, but there really aren't many options out there. I personally don't think that a brand, unless known for quality really means anything, the majority of components are all manufactured in the same locations and sold under license, i'm fairly sure the B&B one and the GSF one are both identical, much like consumer electronics the brand rarely means anything. Theres no way GSF have had this part manufactured specifically for them, not for that price.

I bought one of the GSF, cheap, spurious manufacture distributors a few years ago as a (comparatively) cheap way of being able to diagnose whether my original OEM distributor was at fault.

For £40, you certainly 'cannot be robbed' as they say. However, the performance of the car was noticeably poor with the cheap distributor fitted and set up properly. If you can, go for the genuine Bosch version to do your car justice.
