Im striping my brake lines to renew (copper and flexi)
Im stuck where the rear flexi's meet the last section of copper pipes (the ones going to the drum)
There just seems no space to get any type of tool in as the fixing is bang above the rear axel. Does the rear axel have to be removed?

Re: Rear Brake Hoses - How to undo
When I did mine I removed the passenger side one at the joint where the flexi meets the pipe that goes to the rear drum. I undid the driver's side one where the flexi meets the pipe going to the master cylinder. And like you say it was a biatch to do, mainly because of the fuel system gubbins. I dropped the rear axle to make more space for the driver's side one but as I was dropping the rear axle anyway it didn't make a difference to me. If I hadn't been dropping the axle I'd have probably persevered with the axle on. If you're renewing them anyway you could just cut through the flexi's but then you might have the same problem getting the new ones back on.

crow foot here too. try to get some 6 point ones like this:

(sorry, best picture i could find)
NOT ones like this:

the 6 point ones grip the nut much more securely and are much less likely to just round off the nut
