Spark plug lead removal

Post by Lukeh17 »

Hi there,

My spark plugs look to have some metal case surrounding them. Was going to check their condition today but wasn't sure if the metal is attached to them or they are incased within the metal. They seem really tight in there. Any ideas on removing them? Not sure on make as they have been on there since I bought the car.

Cheers

The metal is part of the plug lead. Give it a good tug and it will come off, sometimes they do get a bit stuck.

Ben.

dont pull it by the cable, just by the metal bit. as ben said they do get stuck.
if your a novice its also a good idea to number the leads with a pen 1st so they go back in the correct order.
or pull them off and put them back one at a time

Yes if you pull by the lead it will come out and you need to buy a new HT lead.
There is some rubber just above the metal cover which you can grab on to.

If the HT leads are more than 3 years old it's worth thinking about fitting new ones, keep the old ones handy just incase you do break one.
