How low and what on?

Post by connorj19 »

Mods bin this if you think it's no good or move if in wrong place

How low and what on? Basically I think we could have a thread where users post a few pics of the cars and state how much it's been lowered by and what size wheels and tires.

I think it would be a great source of info for new members like myself and old alike.

Post away! :-)

if you go to suspension vs coilovers, you should get a better idea on what your after !! but - i had coilovers ( ok, paid £200 for a set from germany ). done 600 miles and sold them on. ( maybe i didnt have them set up right ??? honestly dont know, but they were dangerous for my style of driving.. ie - heavy foot, hard cornering etc. i felt that i had no feel of the road whatsoever so for the nationals, i decided to drive there and back on the god knows how old originals, and actually felt more relieved. ( i like to feel the road/ what the car is doing etc. i have ordered a set of -40mm spring all round suspension kit. gas shocks -40mm springs. new front top mounts. backs are good enough. will let you know how they feel once set up properly.

You should be fine on -40mm drop handling wise and comfort I find great at this height.
Any lower and you will bash everything under the car on speed humps and Kurbs.
To be honest I miss the comfort of my original springs so may return to the original spec.
I'm running eiback springs with standard bilstein shock inserts but find it too bouncy.

Best I had for smooth roads and tracks was my £180 JOM springs and shock kit.
Held the road really well on my car but removed them as the council have put loads of speed humps in my neighbourhood so getting over them was a nuisance

Mines on 15" bullet sixties with coilovers on front wound down about 60mm and weitec shocks/springs on rear which I think are 40mm but I could be wrong. Coilovers ready to go on so I can go lower and will put another pic up when I get round to it

sorry for the delay , but here is mine, how it sits at the moment before it settles down.

in my opinion, its sits great, handles very well and sticks to the road like glue. decided to do numerous tests before i decided to upload a picture.

Cheapo eBay coilovers, £200, no idea how much lower than stock, just dropped till the gap was acceptable. They are very firm but I've had worse and she only comes out to play every now and then. 15" Mini wheels with 195/50x15's on the rear and 165/50x15's on the front

But most of today's colour charts include 5 shades of white, 8 shades of silver and 3 shades of black. Mostly monochrome.
