Was swapping messages with 'thebrief_79' about this recently - it's a car that was floating around about 10 years ago in, I think, North London.
It popped up for sale once or twice during that period iirc.
Unusual re the fitment of a bodykit to an 82/83 gti obviously but that was also a thing that people did in the 90's re making a car look 'younger'. Similar to people fitting big bumpers onto early mk2 golfs and clipper kits onto mk1 golf hatches.
Looks clean enough I'd say? Worth a look.

It looks fairly decent to me, but is up north and I'm as far down south as you can get, the engine conversion is what sells it for me really, I was after a de-kitted jade green one but that's unlikely to be found!
