Hi guys, will sound like a stupid question to some but different parts websites tell me different bhp figures when I type my reg in to buy things. Ranging from 65-85-112 I think.
Any way I can be 100% sure? It's a 1.8 8v injection
yours is definately injection as you can see all the metal braid pipes goin from the metering head aka air box goin to the manifold which is only found on injection models.
the only difference could be whether its 1.8 112bhp or 1.6 110bhp.
seeing as yours is a mk2 it will most probably be a 1.8 112bhp.
best person to ask as hes quite knowledgeable about things like this is the edmundator or consult dr dubs website.
It's defiantly the 1.8. Was just wondering more so as some parts places tell me 65bhp and some 112 which is quite a big difference :) cheers for clearing it up for me though
Yep it's a 1.8 head as the top water hose comes out between cylinders 3 and 4, 1.6 is between 1 and 2. It will also have 1.8 stamped on the back of the engine block.
A lot of engine parts will fit 1.6 carb or 1.8 injection, oil filters the same, cam belts, alternator belts etc...
Looking at your picture you clutch cable seems to be on an angle try to get it as straight as possible to the gearbox as if it's on a angle it will saw its way through the casing where the rubber gromit is and will make the clutch pedal feel heavy as it rubs against the gearbox.
I think the problem is its routed wrong and it should not clip to that air hose coming out of the air box, I'll find a picture of where it should go.

This is from my Golf so it should be similar, there is a metal clip attached to one of the rocker cover bolts and attached to the brake master cylinder is a plastic clip which holds the clutch cable.
Thanks mark1gls I'll have to look at that, funny you should say that as Im on my 3rd clutch cable this year so maybe that's the issue?! I don't think I have a clip there so will home make one like you have.
As for the blue bit I don't know I assumed it was standard? I'll get under the bonnet today and get a better picture of it.
