Engine for Scriocco scala 1.8 1989

Can some help with some advice..... I have a 1989 scala, and need either a new engine, or a re-build.

If I am looking for a new engine, what engines ( from what cars....) will fit, I don't mind a more modern engine, but I don't know what I am looking for.....engine code is EX.

Or if I go for a rebuild, if there anyone that can be recommended for this work, I live in Hednesford ( close to cannock) in the West Midlands, what would be a rough cost for this work?

Also I am after a front bumper ( complete ) and dashboard if anyone is selling.

I will be selling my 71k mileage 1.8 carb engine in the within next couple of months as I'm building a 16v abf for my gt. If your interested pm me. I'm up in Cheshire and can also install the engine

Out of interest what's leading you to think you need a replacement engine or a big enough rebuild to consider swapping it?
