HELP NEEDED
hi guys, ive recently discovered my scirocco has a head gasket failure. but iv'e came across a recplacement engine at a good price. My question is the engine is a 1.6 gt (75 BHP)and my current engine is a 1.8 8v (90BHP). would i be able to replace the current engine with the 1.6 and keep my current running gear like gearbox etc and would there be any fabrication needed!. Thanks in advance guys!!!

Re: HELP NEEDED
If they are both carburettor engines, then yes, you can just swap it over.
However, as long as the head doesn't need to be skimmed due to warping from overheating, it is less work to replace the head gasket than it is to replace the engine.
Albeit not much less, but you also wouldn't loose the power that you would from going from a 1.8 to a 1.6.
