Alpine SXE4625S Speaker 6x4
Alpine SXE4625S Speaker 6x4
Guys
Will the Alpine SXE4625S Speaker 6x4 fit behind the standard front and rear grills without any modification to either speaker or grills ? Measured the std VW ones and they are 42mm depth vs 38mm depth of the Alpine. Are they a good speaker for the money ??
Cheers
Mark

Yes, they will fit with no modification required. I have these in my Scala, and they sound good. Mac Audio make nice speakers as well, I have a set of these in my Storm.

Mark this might give you an idea of what you might need to dp to fit the replacement speakers, changed mine to JBL ones years ago-

The only mod you may have to do is the connections, the alpine have a small and large spade connector on them.
I have a set in my Golf and for what they cost they are great little speakers, a little lacking in bass but they are only small so it's expected really, I have a sub in the boot so not a problem for me.

I've got them in my mk2 and have found them brilliant to have compared to the standard ones, and fit easily behind the covers on the doors so the car doesn't look modified

Re: Alpine SXE4625S Speaker 6x4
A few of us have found that there is a lip around the speaker face that needs to be trimmed down to get the cover to fit properly. I suspect there may be some production differences as others have had no trouble at all.

Re: Alpine SXE4625S Speaker 6x4
My front speakers were in a sorry state, so I bought a pair of the Alpines off eBay (~£30)
I read that the Alpine fit some of our cars & not others. Didn't expect to be lucky & I wasn't!
When I looked at my new speakers they seemed to have a lip moulded onto the face of them, but also the 'tweeter' stands quite proud
Not a very good photo, but you get the idea.
I couldn't get the grills back on. So I realised I could grind away the lip on the inside of the grill.
The one on the left has just been done.
Grills now fit back on with no problem. New speakers sound great.

Looking at your old speakers I can understand how the new ones sound better.

Re: Alpine SXE4625S Speaker 6x4
you can mount the speakers behind the door card using the same mounting points so the grill fits no issues
I dont mind project cars but I HATE SANDING!!!
