Re: were mk1 floor mats specific?
I don't think they are but I could be wrong as I fiited some from a Mk1 golf and they seem to fit fine but they are aftermarket ones.

Re: were mk1 floor mats specific?
The VW ones in my mk2 Golf are suitable for a variety of models - there are instructions on the back about how to cut them along the markings to make them fit. I don't know if this is the case for earlier cars as well.

Re: were mk1 floor mats specific?
They were. I remember buying some rubber mats from a German VW dealer (I was living in Germany) for my first MK1 back in 1985, I had to get busy with a Stanley knife following the instructions on the back!the edmundator wrote:The VW ones in my mk2 Golf are suitable for a variety of models - there are instructions on the back about how to cut them along the markings to make them fit.
