Guys, I need to make a loom for the illumination of the VDO gauges I installed but I'm unsure what grade wire I need to use. Really don't want a fire.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Gauge Illumination Wire Thickness
good wire i use is cheap extension lead flex as its usually rated to 6 amp 230 volt so should have no problem running 1 amp at 12 volt. plus cutting open flex wire you have nice brown wire for your earth cable (oem look) and blue for your live (not so oem).
I dont mind project cars but I HATE SANDING!!!
Re: Gauge Illumination Wire Thickness
when i fited mine i used slide connectors to link up the lights n the guages, then used the "light" from the ashtry, cut that off the bulb holder and again just fitted slide connectors and linked onto the guages, all sorted :)
hope that make sense

Re: Gauge Illumination Wire Thickness
Take a look at the existing illumination cable, it is grey and blue and not very thick as the OEM bulbs are only 1.2w.
I would recommend soldering and covering with heatshrink!
