mk 1 rev counter

Post by mark1man »

hi all,

my mk 1 rev counter has decided to pack up all together.
fuel and water gauges are working fine still.ive taken out the facia and examined the printed circuit which appears to be in good order.
im suspecting a diode or resistor gone on the mini circuit board behind the needle plate, anyone know of any repairers as i dont fancy taking the binacle appart ???

Check wiring to it before spending money. Either connect the pulse wire to another rev counter, or use a multi meter with either a tacho or frequency function

hi nate,

just tried an old unit, the rev counter worked but the fuel and water did not register on the second unit,it could be the voltage regulator which serves the three gauges.
i guess next thing is to put the other voltage regulator on my fitted unit to see if the rev counter works and if the fuel and water does not then thats the faulty component
