handbrake won't stay up
hi all, just changed the rear brakes, new drums, shoes, cylinders, bearings and backplate. all from a polo 6n. i did not change the handbrake cables. and now the handbrake lever won't lock in position when i pull it up. i sounds/feels like something has broke/worked its way loose inside the handle. is it easy to take it apart? or will there be springs flying in all directions.? thanks
remember, if it's got tit's or tyre's, sooner or later it's gonna give you trouble.

What he said. Need to remove the handbrake lever and flip the ratchet round. Circlip on one side of the pivot and tap it out. Did you pull up the handbrake while nothing was attached to the other end?

Glad you are sorted mate. I had the same issue years ago on my first MK2, 1988 if I remember, never had it since though!type53b wrote:you were on the money, mate! took it out, flipped it around and its back working. cheers for the advice!ianaudia4 wrote:Sounds like the rachet in the handle has turned!
