Fitting a gauge into the console

Post by eddypeck »

Not sure if this classes as an Electrical question, but I want to fit a VDO oil pressure gauge into the space next to the ash tray. as in this pic:

I've got the plastic square thing with a hole to replace the blank one but the centre hole is too small for the gauge I just bought

In the top pic is looks like the gauge is maybe mounted behind, but the ring on the gauge won't let it sit right, shall I take the ring off the gauge and mount it behind or cut out the holder?

ta,

The gauge sits in the hole in the consol and is held on with a clamp and nuts. The gauge surround sits on top, you should not need to cut if it is genuine.

Yes, you will need to fit wiring and sensors if your car didn't have them originally.

Just a quick question on this. Were all Scirocco's fitted with the gauge? My immobiliser Is where the gauge should be and when I took it out it has a VW part number so was wondering whether some were fitted with gauges or immobilisers.

Cheers

The gauges were fitted to early Gti's, GTX's and 16v.
