Hi there, loving the car. I had an early non kitted GL, really do think they look awesome.

Just in case, I have a brand new early non side repeater genuine VW left front wing in my collection. PM me if you're interested.

Matt

Cheers for the offer Matt. I'm going to try and get it repaired first, I want to keep as much original paint as possible, but I'll let you know.

Ordered a Mk1 Golf on off eBay for £38. Pretty close match, the filler end has a flange around the neck, the mounting tab is a different angle and the bends are slightly different.

Luckily one of my mates managed to get it sorted for me for nothing. Cut the end of the old one ans swapped it over and heated and reshaped the bends.

I've not had time to fit it yet, everytime I'm off work it's either raining or I'm decorating. Did get a chance to have a play with my interior bits.

The wood is totally the wrong colour compared to my steering wheel.

Poor old girl hasn't been run for a month so I wanted to get the filler neck on a.s.a.p. She's never going to be a daily driver so I just gave the neck a quick paint, didn't come out too bad but it was painted outside on a bloody windy day.

Quick sand down

The fit isn't perfect but it'll do for now, she's running again and only cost me £38. I might be able to tweak it a bit and get it to fit.

After six attempts I finally found a new filler cap

Not locking but at least the flap isn't poking out anymore.

Tried my steering boss, way to big to fit straight on.
