8v cam

Couple of questions-

Is the cam in an 8v carb ex engine the same as that in a golf gti 8v? If not how can u tell between the 2?

If I remember rightly the gti cam fits the ex engine but the cam duration is different. It is what a lot of people use as a mild upgrade rather than going for a full on high lift performance cam.
