Audi 2.2 Throttle Body

Post by stys0n84 »

I have seen an Audi 2.2l tb for sale aswell as the compatible w.u.r.

What are people's views on this to use it for my 8v dx as I'm hoping it will open up the top end and give the engine more shunt in 5th.

* Is it a worthwhile upgrade on its own
* is it just as well getting a golf mk2 tb (cheaper but more hassle as its back to front or something)
* Will it kill low down torque after porting the inlet to make the butterflies open fully on the Audi tb? As the engine is designed for the narrower opening?

These are just my own half-baked ideas and I'm by no means a mechanic so help always appreciated.

Cheers,

Sam.

Start off slow and methodical, that doesn't work so shout curse and hit it till it works.

Hi,
It will probably help a little bit, but the main restriction is going to be the valves. Without going into too much detail, your engine is only as good as its weakest point. If your valves are a restriction now they still will be when you've changed the TB. Have a good read into NA engine tuning and you will begin to understand why & how changing things work or doesn't work.

Ben.
