Anyone got a list of do's and don'ts for popping a vr lump into a mk2? Most probably a 2.8, just looking for advice about doing this conversation, hints and tips if you were to try and coax me away from the 1.8T route as it seems every man and their gran has a 1.8T in the dub world
Cheers in advance

Re: VR6 into a Mk2
My recommendation would probably be to say 'don't' - not because it's a hard job, but because the weight of the engine would throw the car's weight balance right out. A 1.8T is still one of the best ways to go - failing that, you could have a look through the engine conversion FAQ and make a different choice.

Was talking to tim at the phirm a while ago about this conversion, in his words, "quick and easy, and plenty of go"..

Re: VR6 into a Mk2
When me and Brass went to collect the mk1 on sunday, Mike showed us the VR6 MK1, maybe worth giving him a shout Jon. I think he said you can use the existing chassis mounts, but you need custom engine mounts making, also he said something about modifying the downpipe but you can use the standard exhaust beyond that. He also commented on it being very heavy.
Don't ask me....it was like that when i got here !

Cheers for that Mark, I'm just sold on the noise, went out in a friends VR6 Mk2 Golf and it doesn't seem to have affected the golf that much, goes like a rocket

backs up Mark H comments.
apart from Mikes car the only other vr6 Rocco I seem to recall was a USA mk2 as featured in PVW Magazine a couple of years back.
check edition 38 forum too - a few mk1 golf vr6 projects on there.
