HELP! - Indicators not working
I have the same problem as some others on here have had - my hazards work but my indicators don't. the indicator LED on the dash glows very slightly all the time, and when i indicate it glows solidly, with no clicking and the actual indicators outside don't illuminate.
I changed the relay. That didn't work. Although there was a slight noise from the indicator relay for a second, then nothing.
I checked the fuse. that LOOKED fine, but I'm not sure.
then I took it out to test and tried again without the fuse fitted. Exactly the same issue remains - no lights, no clicking, but the solid light on the dash.
So that suggests that the fuse or fuse box is at fault.
does this ring any bells with anyone?

Re: Indicators not working
Is there not 2 fuses, 1 for the indicators and 1 for the hazards? I don't have my Haynes to hand. I think there are 2 relays as well, one for each?

There are 2 fuses, check the one for the hazards as well as the one for turn signals.

Re: Indicators not working
ahhh... well i was looking at fuse 8 anyway. apparently even if they're blown they can look OK. I'll just go and grab some fuses from Halfords tomorrow

Re: Indicators not working
Right, changed the fuse. same problem.
actually managed to get a blue spark from the fusebox when I was doing it too - excellent.
any ideas guys?
this is starting to concern me - i do not want to driving this heap up to Liverpool with no indicators on friday.
any wiring experts out there? Is it possible that some wire is shorting out somewhere?
or do you reckon it could be the stalks? I bloody hope not....

flasher relay is surely the next most obvious thing. your blue spark will just be because they're drawing current, not necessarily that something is drawing too much current

You could take the steering wheel off and clean up the connections from the stalks. I agree with Nate though, is it the right relay and does it work?

Re: HELP! - Indicators not working
well, it works for the hazards and it fits where it is supposed to. all the three prongs have the same numbers on them as the one i took out.
is that what you mean?
the car did this before a while ago and it stopped
the fact that when i took the fuse out it made no difference to the issue makes me wonder....

Re: HELP! - Indicators not working
Had a wee chat with Ian earlier.
When I'm driving in the dark i notice that the indicator LED glows dimly, and the dimness varies depending on whether you hit bumps etc
i think there's a bad earth at work somewhere.
my steering wheel makes a grinding sound, like there's sand accumulated behind it. Perhaps the contacts on the indicator stalk are filthy.
Will report back when I know
