Niall's 1.6 GT

Post by Niall »

I felt I need a thread to document my progress with my car. To be fair all the big stuff is already done by LEEP, so most of the things on this thread will be me just tinkering with stuff in an attempt to learn how to do things for my self.
Criticism, comments and suggestions are welcome.
Bought it like this:

Orange indies had to go

Decided at that point to go for a completely colourless look. Liking the black and dark grey all over, so I got some new plates.
Got told off by my boss for having them on in the work car park (DVLA) so now they stay in the boot for shows.

Started on the centre console today and decided the ash tray wasn't needed anymore, so I did this.
2 of them are wired up, 2 of them are spare until I find a use for them.
Also stickerbombed the surround whilst keeping to the grey colour scheme.

It's alright, I'm one of the good guys. I work in the call centre taking abuse off the general public.

Clear dizzy cap after seeing it being discussed in another thread

Starting work on making the engine bay look sexy, waiting for a battery cover and ignition coil cover.

New wheels after the winter, looking at some ATS Classics 15''

Hey Niall,
Can you get a video of it running in the dark?
The blue tinge it gives off while the engine is running is really cool, but I can't seem to upload pics or videos at the moment.

It's not very dark as there was a streetlight right behind me, but it's still visible on video.

Battery terminals were a bit worn down, so bought new ones and had to put new spades on each connection.

And then hid it all with this.

Found some old LED strips and couldn't resist. 2/4 of my airoplane switches used up now.

Also started meddling with the clock although I have more plans for this before it gets installed.

Might keep them for next winter. If I do sell, I'll put them on here before eBay.
And I'm back down to 2. One for my daily, one my old man is driving. Did have 3 at one point.

Looking really cool. If you don't mind, I may borrow your nut cap idea...

I'd suggest some laquer on them. Mine have rusted fairly fast.
