door handles

i suspect the answer is "no", but are mk1 and mk2 outside door handles interchangeable? or mk1 golf handles?

I think they would fit, never tried but I have seen a MK2 Golf fitted with early chrome handles from
a MK1 Golf? For what you can pick them up it must be worth a shot!

From memory there is two types of mechanism to the door handles, Mk1 Scirocco might have a differnet mechanism to the later door handles.
I think you can swop over the workings but not 100% sure.
Mk1 78 Scirocco GLS 1.6 FR, weekend toy.

Mark 1 and Mark 2 door handles are not interchangeable as the locating lug on the front of the handles are a different design.

Mk1 and Mk2 handles are not interchangeable sir. The mechanisms and locks on each are different.

Golf 1 used the same system as Scirocco until about 1978(ish) if i recall correctly. After that the design changed to the later handles and larger locks as per the kind used on mk2 Scirocco.
