rear wiper issue

Post by pasenah »

Hi, looks like I've been ripped off on eBay for a rear wiper motor and arm, as after fitting the motor I discover the spline is a larger diameter than the original and the supplied arm will not fit!

So, the question is, is there an arm that will fit a larger spline or is this off a different VW vehicle?

The car I've got is a Mk2 Scala 88

Cheers

If it is like the front wiopers, VW changed the size of the spline in the late 80's. I snapped a front wiper spline whilst tightening the nut on my 84 Storm! The only front motor I could get was from a 90 GT11, and the I needed to buy the arms as the spline had gone from 10mm to 13mm.

Yeah at a guess I'd say the supplied motor is 13mm. Does that mean there is a wiper arm that should fit?

Is the part number from the motor you bought 533 955 713C? Is your old one 533 955 713A?

And is the wiper arm 533 955 707?

Well lets assume it is the number for the new one you've fitted, then you will need wiper arm with the part number 533 955 707A, which is for later models.

Here is one from VW Heritage http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& ... 7178,d.ZG4

I think I would be tempted to put a wanted ad on here or even try your local VW dealer, they may still be able to get them?

I've just spoke to a local vw spares and he has a complete tailgate I can have for £20! So I'll go have a look at the motor on it and have that if its good. If not I'll go for the eBay one you've linked to.
Thanks for your help mate
