Completely baffled, symptoms were no spark, went through the procedures in Haynes and replaced the coil and ignition module, still no joy, there's power at the coil and at the ignition module, but not at the hall sender connector even though I've checked the wires for continuity and they're all ok.
Only thing I've found is that the lead connecting the distributor to the coil shows a resistance of about 1k9 Ohms rather than 1k, but I'm struggling to believe that would result in no spark rather than just a weak one.
Anyone got any bright Ideas while I repeat all the tests?
Non-starter

Cylinder head to bulk head.

gearbox to body under the battery tray
If it is not broken, Do not fix it !!!
Re: Non-starter
Cylinder head to bulkhead ok (connects via ignition coil bracket), gearbox - seems to come off gearbox carrier bracket and then onto chassis leg but appears intact.

Re: Non-starter
To check its not earthing issues, connect a jump lead from the cylinder head to the battery negative. Then try it. If no difference you can rule out any earthing issues

1.9 ohms sounds okay, me and Tim checked his Golf GTi King lead and had the same result as you got, only his car runs!marcus wrote:Completely baffled, symptoms were no spark, went through the procedures in Haynes and replaced the coil and ignition module, still no joy, there's power at the coil and at the ignition module, but not at the hall sender connector even though I've checked the wires for continuity and they're all ok.
