New member - Mk2 GT2

Post by Seejay »

Hi All,

I just thought I would show a few pics of my Scirocco. Its a totally original (wheels are not originals on the pics but I do have the standards!) GT2, 1991 with 55 thousand miles on and full dealership service history. Immaculate throughout. I have a massive file of receipts, all original keys, the original receipt of purchase, original booklets / brochures, original key ring etc.

Anyway, here is a few pics. Hope you like! I would also be interested if anyone would let me know how much they would advertise it for if it was theirs? I have had a few offers lately since I have mentioned to friends I may be interested in selling and just wondered if any of you experts had any idea what I should expect? Pictures really dont do it justice but hey ho!

Thanks, Seejay

Ahh, you are the other scirocco I see Kev! I must admit I thought there would be more than two of us? I am new to all this business but is it quite a large scale show?

Cheers, Seejay

Apologies Kev, my mate I was coming with ended up in A&E so I didnt get there in time to get the car into the actual show!

I did swing by later on and saw yours there though - incredible! Didnt see you though or I would of introduced myself! Never seen one with a built in motorola before! Also, is the scala the higher spec than the GT2? Im a bit of a novice to be honest! Just couldnt resist buying this car when I saw it!

Mine was outside for an hour or two just after dinner but it appears I missed the best part of the show unfortunately! On my way up the A34 I saw a fair few vans heading in the opposite direction!

As for selling it, it keeps crossing my mind as I get tempted by Mk1 golfs but then when I get in and drive the rocco I change back to wanting to keep it forever! Also the pressure of keeping it so clean makes me lose sleep at night :D

No I bought it from a bloke in Yorkshire a few months ago! The bloke who bought it off you (I am guessing?) had it for a few months but then bought a mk1 fiesta which he has always wanted apparently.

Were you related to the original owner who had it for 18 years or however long it was? Small world hey! It's closer to Walsall now in stoke anyway! Be good to know a bit more about its history!

Small world of sciroccos! That's cool, I'm might ser you around on the odd occasion.

My next door neighbour was the original owner, he had it from new and it was always serviced by the same dealer. He only ever used it to take his Yorkshire terrier up to Cannock Chase on the weekends, otherwise it was garaged all of the time. He only sold it because his wife couldn't drive out and he found a love for his new fabia vrs.

I bought it off him intending to keep it, but I moved jobs right after I bought it so I had to let it go. I'm glad it's back in an enthusiasts hands!

I can claim for the under bonnet cleaning and additional waxol protection in my brief ownership though, so should stay in good condition for you.

Brilliant - thanks for the update! It's good to know that the story the bloke told me was true and backed up by the history file for it! Matt was the guy who bought it from you apparently - he took the bump strips off and put some aftermarket OZ wheels on I believe... Unless that was yourself? Either way it's a credit to its previous owners. I bought it blind to be honest so it was a bit of a silly gamble but it seems to have paid off. The only thing I have noticed is that one of the rear arches/body kit is screwed on with a different type of screw to the other side and the screws have started to rust a little. I've had the arch off and there is no sign of damage or anything so not sure what has happened there? I'm on the hunt for original screws anyway - the ats are temporary I think as I would like to get it back to original soon!
