Hi All,

This is my first venture into Scirocco territory after having wanted one for years, but only took the plunge recently

Car is I think a GT2, it came with a 1.8 8v carb motor, but has had various modifications by previous owners.

Condition of the body is good overall, the underneath is in fantastic condition & the only real exterior rust is on the tailgate.

It could do with painting at some point in the future but theres a lot of other stuff to do first

I like the colour & it's appearance in general but I would like some original orange side repeaters & taillights, so I put a thread up in parts wanted.


The brakes are probably the worst part of the car despite being with all new discs and pads up front with braided hoses, the tiny 239mm discs are not up to modern standards.
What I mean by this is that if in traffic and someone in a modern Audi etc. cuts infront and then immediately brakes, then the current setup would not be enough.

I have pretty much everything required for 280mm setup, but a set of ready 15" wheels to go on. I have some 15" Compomotive MO wheels but they need a good refurb first.

While I have enjoyed the 1.8 carb engine (it has a nearly new Weber 32/34 fitted), the bottom end has gone so I'm planning an engine conversion in next few months.
Help and advice from you guys along the way would be very welcome!

Already collecting parts for the conversion.

I have a sender / lift pump from a fuel injection model

& now this:

still loads of bits to acquire though & also need to change the fuel tank as it is leaking at the seams

Nice, that will be a late registered GT mate, the GT2's had colour coded body kits.
Any interior shots?

Good stuff, I suppose I should have looked that up :-) but the spec wasn't that important at the time.

Interior is a bit funky, cream everything including seats, doorcards, and dash.

At some point a dye kit has been used but seats are not so good.

Will put an interior pic up in a bit

Welcome to the register and nice looking car!
With the brakes they will not be like moden cars with over servoed ABS brakes but with a bit of adjustment and new brake fluid can make alot of difference, the automatic adjustment on the rear brake drums is not that good at adjusting the shoes so with a bit of adjustment on the rear can make alot of differnce to the feel of the brake pedal.
You will get used to them and you should be able to lock the wheels with a good press of the brake pedal.

I've seen that a couple of times, always liked that interior.
Brake wise a good servicing will help but they are utterly pappage.

This one has been on here (the site) before then? I tend to hold onto cars so this one isn't going anywhere! :-)

The discs, pads, hoses, fluid all look very recent, so I would imagine this is as good as the 239mm setup is going to get without getting some aggressive pads.

Only thing I have done with interior so far is changed the steering wheel, as being over 6ft does not seem to work very well with standard seat and standard wheel, MOMO boss and wheel just brings it a bit closer to the driver and more room.

Some Corrado seats would probably also help, but cloth ones would look a bit out of place amongst all the cream leathery bits!
