Re: heater blower not working
hmmm think i've got the same fault, blower motor working for a few mins that stopping, the heater matrix is fine as theres still heat coming out.
think i'll replace the same relay and see if it solves the problem :)

Re: heater blower not working
I think it's worth checking the switch first - I've had an intermittent blower fault for some time (position 3 didn't work at all and 2 would sometimes cut out) and found that the switch wasn't connecting reliably, pushing on the switch results in the blower working again (until you release the pressure that is).
Might be worth removing to check the connections and giving it a squirt of WD40 or similar - none of the switches on my old Land Rover worked when I got it but WD40 and operating the switches a few times fixed them.

Re: heater blower not working
Nooooooooo! Wd40 is evil! Use proper contact cleaner, and proper penetrating oil, not one spray that tries to do everything
edit: I don't mean fill your switch with penetrating oil by the way

Re: heater blower not working
Ok ok, replace WD40 with [insert your favourite contact cleaner/penetrating oil - delete as appropriate - here]...

Re: heater blower not working
Effy had a dodgy switch, I sent him my spare and it solved the problem.

Re: heater blower not working
Very easy to fit Rick, a couple of small screw drivers and 5 minutes of your time.

Re: heater blower not working
think i might have cracked my heater blower problem (sorry for thread hijack)
took the scuttle panel off today and poked at the wiring on the side of the fan unit. the blower instantly started up.
i tried again, just poking the brown wire. that worked too. then I blew the fuse!
so bad earth (my car is bloody full of them!) haven't worked out how to fix this yet - but i'll report back when I can

Re: heater blower not working
That's the way mate, a systematic approach. Get down the pound shop and buy some little wire brushes.Reverend Frog wrote:well at least i found the solution!ianaudia4 wrote:Shame you are where you are mate as like I said I would have loved to have helped you with all the little niggles.

Re: heater blower not working
had another look at this today
although if i twiddle the wiring it makes the fan come on, it still cuts out eventually.
And today when I was peering into it, it started smoking slightly!
so does this imply that it's overheating and cutting out as a safety measure?
