Some of you may have seen this crop up on the fo' sell pages.
Formerly owned by Nr's photography wizard Musicman the car was a bit of a legend in its time.
Well, due to various reasons it sat and became slightly neglected and eventually Rob decided it was time to pass it on and I room the oppurtunity to grab it.
I'm starving, knackered and waiting for the crushing come down from the adrenaline and caffeine.
Once that's done I'll get some pics up

I'm not entirely sure. I was a bit shocked when I saw the old girl but it's not as bad as it looks. The problem I had yesterday was that I hadn't eaten, had filled myself up with caffine and had a terrifying drive through a busy town in a car i was having to rev the bum out of to keep running. Consequently, by the time I got home on the back on the tow truck (spent an hour and a half in a van with a man that talked more and quicker than me which was knackering in itself) I was pretty strung out and wasn't really thinking straight.
Everything seems to work and I've driven it a couple of miles (against my better judgement it has to be said - complaint going into the RAC on their pish-poor behaviour and attitude).

The most surprising thing is the spec, it was like going back in time to my old green car. A lot of it is really random, properly hard to find stuff that I've been on the hunt for: Ally kick plates, chrome inner door handles, that kind of thing. And there's other stuff that was just a bonus: neuspeed upper front brace, pristine interior and dash that I could happily transfer straight into the Bandit. Plus, the eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted the clear indies, eyebrow spoiler, 280mm brakes and proper cloth boot liner.

Mrs F is already pointing out that this technically goes against our deal (only one car at a time, do what I want with it) but she realises that despite the fuelling issues (air/fuel mixer thingy we think), only MOT and Tax until the end of the month etc it'd actually be a crime to take old faithful to her and carve her up.

Once Mart, the other guy I buy cars with is back to full strength (black ops in Guam, can't discuss it) we'll sit down and have a think. Hopefully we can come up with a compromise that keeps everyone happy.

Its ok I am on the red eye SR-71 back from Guam as we speak, my gut instinct is that Tharg has to sacrifice his life so that many other Scirocco's can live on in immortal happiness!! so if anyone sees anything that they require best give Jim or me a shout if its anything like the Monza Blue at the beginning of the year you most likely have a week at tops before Tharg is a carcass

Not easier to M.O.T it and move it on ? Being a bit of a legend and all that !

And that's the problem Jake.
For an mot it'd need a fair bit of work, not least being the running issue. Suddenly it's another expense.
Don't get me wrong here, we obviously weren't expecting a car we just immediately use. Not at all. Mr M was very clear about the issues.
But the long and short of it is that a well intentioned sacrifice could help another dozen cars including mine and there's no reason why someone couldn't take the surprisingly solid shell and start again.
But nothing's definite yet.

But this is clearly why I'd never buy a mk1 despite my burning desire.

Il be sure to make a plaque out of one of the body panels and etch the names of the people that are benefiting in the long run.
When it boiled down to it it was a unfortunately neglected scala that would have cost a fair bit to put right.
