If I were you I would not drill any holes in the metal, you will just get rust again a lot easier.treefingers wrote:thanks guys looks like these are the ones I need.. guess I need to drill holes in the front ones in order to fit the crap guards again?
Cut of the plastic mould and glue them on after the paintjob.

If you drill them before you paint, this shouldn't really be a problem - although I think the holes in the original are not round, so they would be difficult to drill correctly.

Edmundator is right, the orginal hole is square with a plastic clip pushed in which the screw is screwed into.the edmundator wrote:If you drill them before you paint, this shouldn't really be a problem - although I think the holes in the original are not round, so they would be difficult to drill correctly.
When I fitted some front wheel arch liners on my Mk1 I drilled holes first on the wheel arch lip then had the car painted then fitted the screws with a dab of waxoil on them. 3 years later no rust, but to be honest my car has not seen any salty winter roads.

yeah sounds like glueing the the way to go.. what about not running them at all? It seems they give a lot of rigidity to the front of the wings, without them on the wings are so flimsy!

Just to check... The repair panels in the picture at the top of this thread are for the rear arches, if you are not fitting the body kit I don't think you will need to drill any holes in them.
