Removal of Handbrake light switch.

Post by Old Mac Rocco »

As above can anyone tell me how to remove this little blighter.
Sat Nav ordered me to tidy up my spares cupboard and I found this still in my spare dashboard.
Image
Thought I'd pop it out and put it along with the rest of my spares.
I did manage to get the front off.

Three hours later and it is still in the dash :ire: :ire: :ire:
Don't want to force it or break it I just want the blighter OUT !!!!!!!!!!
Help please.

If you want ill just take the whole dash off your hands. ...

I hate plastic clippy things, I have a habit of breaking them.

Sandy, there is a metal fixing clip that connects the light to the dash, get a small screwdriver behind it and gradually lever it out.
Simple really!

Hi dozzum,
Thanks for the offer but it is a bit on the big side to post but you would be Sat Nav's friend for life.
If I am ever down your way I'll bring it down to you special delivery.

Hi Ian,
I am beginning to wonder if it is meant to come out as there is access to change the bulb on the front and no real need to get to the back ????????
Just a thought maybe it is a permanent fixture ???????

They do come out! In your 3rd picture you can see a chunky metal clip at the bottom of the light, this bites into the plastic and holds it in place. Wedge a small screwdriver under and gently loosen. It works! The same type of clip also holds the fag lighter in place!

Cheers Ian.
Dashboard now back in the spares cupboard with light STILL ATTACHED !!!!!!!!
Could get it to move in and out at the bottom and at the left hand side but could not get it to completely release.
No point in forcing it as it is doing no harm where it is.
Just means if I ever need to swop it over, or sell it, the light will be there.
Thanks for your input lads.
