Which gear oil?
Anybody know what gear oil should be in the 1.8 GT2 5 speed box and any recommendations for suppliers, also what quantity will be needed for a complete gear oil change?

Re: Which gear oil?
SAE 75w-90. Buy it from the dealers, it will be the correct one then and probably cheaper than a lot of motor factors IMHO.
P.S. Get on first name terms with your locals VW parts counter and then hit them with "can you do a discount"?

Re: Which gear oil?
Back to question 1, how much do I need to do a complete gearbox oil change?

Re: Which gear oil?
Hi Rob.
According to the trusty Haynes (1982 - 1990) a 5 speed requires 2 Litres and a 4 speed requires 1.5 Litres.
Hope this helps.
