Used the car this morning started on the button left it a couple of hours and now nothing the car will crank over but not fire??
Also fuel tank is holding pressure any thoughts ???
Not starting!!!!!

If it ain't fuel. Check the dizzy cap, rotor arm, coil etc.
I had starting problems a while back and it was a duff rotor arm changed that and it fired up straight away

Take the relay out and bridge the connections and see if it starts if you think its the relay.
Before that though I would check the basics.
Pull out the injectors and put them in a jar/ jars and get someone to crank it and press the throttle.
Check for a good spark on all the plugs.

I not tried this but it was posted on the Mk1 golf forum.
"Try this but be careful and don't let your engine run for long with this….
Put your horn relay no.53 in your fuel pump relay position. This will run the pump from the ignition on.
Just to rule out faulty relay."
