Top of Rear Shock Bottom Bush

Post by JDUB »

Confused !
Can anybody tell me what part number the Bottom rubber bush (the one under the car as opposed to the one inside the boot) on the top of the rear shocks should be ?
The OEM one I have just removed is part number 191 512 333, and the one I have just bought from VW is 171 512 333. The new VW one is thicker and a different form on the bottom edge to the one originally fitted. The dealership say it's all they have listed for the Rocco ? The other one has never been changed so VW must have fitted it in the first place ? The car is a 1987 GTS 1.8. Is it possible that this model needs a different part ? Is there only one type (part number) for the top Cup which holds the spring ? because this seems to fit the old bush better ? The other bush is available but isn't listed for the Rocco ?

Etka is only giving me the 171 512 333 part number if I look up Scirocco then year, then select the part on the diagram, the 191 512 333 part number is listed under the mk 2 golf and corrado rear strut. There is only one part number for the upper spring cup.

Edit - Gtxtra beat me to it!

Thanks for that (this forum is a brilliant resource) I'll fit the new VW ones.
I'm the second owner of the car (had it 18 years now) and it came with FSH no mention of bush changes so I guess it was just built wrong ?
