DX, Yellow vac line off that thingy on the metering head..

Post by Dave Dorson »

I've got a mystery vac line that appears to go no-where.

In think its related to my rough running, cold misfire. It comes from a small canister sat on my metering head, which has a black and white wire going into it.

Can someone identify where this is meant to go?

Ta.

do you meant that the other end of this vac pipe is just floating about loose?

have you looked on the slam panel to see if there is a map of the vac lines, like there is on carb cars?

Yep, just sat near the injectors doing squat!, brilliant.

There's no diagram, if there was it's long gone I'm afraid.

Cheers Mr B.

I'll have to take a proper butchers tonight, I reckon the plastic barb has broken off it, as I don't remember seeing a connection there :(

it should connect onto 1 of the tubes that are in the brake servo feed, as diagram (number 3). if this connector pipe is missing and its drawing in fresh air it effects the idol and running as it renders the mixture weak.

If it is not broken, Do not fix it !!!

If one of the connectors has snapped off the valve (they do seem to go a bit brittle with age) a self rapper screwed into the hole should improve things short term while you source a new valve

You will probably find these are no longer available. I always try to look out for these at the shows, just in case in the future I need one!
